ABOUT THE ROLE
Fort McKay First Nation is seeking a motivated individual with a positive attitude to fill the position of Custodian. This position will play a pivotal role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The incumbent will perform custodial duties to ensure that Elsie Fabian school is maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner. This is a full-time position and will work under the supervision of the Custodian Team Lead. This position is based in Fort McKay, AB.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Clean and supply designated building areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning etc.)
  • Clean and disinfect washrooms and fixtures and other general areas.
  • Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities and notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs.
  • Operate industrial vacuum cleaners to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris and other refuse.
  • Wash windows, interior walls and ceilings.
  • Empty trash cans and other waste containers. 
  • Follow all health and safety regulations.
  • Sweep, mop, wash, wax and polish floors.
  • Dust furniture and vacuum carpeting and area rugs, draperies and upholstered furniture.
  • Stock other supply areas.
  • Clean, disinfect and polish kitchen and bathroom fixtures and appliances. 
  • Report and store lost and found items.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma is required
  • Proven working experience as a Custodian
  • Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets
  • Experience working in a First Nations community including knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values is required.
  • Clean Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector required.
  • Valid class five (5) Driver’s License & Clean Driver’s Abstract required.
  • Successful candidate will be required to live in (or relocate to) Fort McMurray, Alberta
